You apply for renewal within the 60 days before your residence permit expires. Leaving it to the last day makes appointments harder to get, and missing documents put your legal stay at risk.
How to apply
You apply through the e-Residence system. After the form you get an appointment and hand in the documents at the provincial migration office. An application made on time documents your stay until a decision is made.
Required documents
Usually a passport and copy, biometric photos, health insurance covering the stay, proof of address and proof of financial means. Your residence type may need extra documents.
Common mistakes
A passport that is not at least 60 days longer than the permit, an address change not reported within 20 working days, and insurance that does not cover the stay are the most common renewal problems.
